THE Centre for Conflict Management and Transformation (CCMT) successfully facilitated an interface workshop in Mberengwa, Midlands Province.

The event was attended by officials from the Mberengwa Rural District Council, the District Development Coordinator, Lands Department, National Housing and Social Amenities including Traditional leaders. Community representatives also attended the event.

“The workshop focused on reviewing the implementation of signed Memorandum of Agreement between, Vanguard Community and MRDC regarding the regularization of the settlement and among ZIMASCO, MRDC and Bungwe Community, on the installation of water infrastructure for portable water and irrigation,” CCMT said in a statement.

In the Vanguard processes, stakeholders agreed to expedite the production of a base map and layout plan to identify sites for social infrastructure and ultimately improved social service delivery. In Bungwe, crucial discussions revolved around prioritization of borehole equipping and water reticulation systems to ensure protection of communities’ livelihoods.

Emphasis was put on the need for a collaborative approach in the implementation of the processes, for instance, borehole capacity and water quality tests, to avoid delays in the implementation process.

“A major outcome was the joint development of a six-month Implementation Action Plan, addressing leadership conflicts, compensation challenges, and technical water solutions. This workshop solidified a strong stakeholder commitment and coordinated approach to enhance rural livelihoods and address regularization concerns,” added CCMT.
