OPPOSITION politician, Nelson Chamisa has distanced himself from allegations suggesting that he engaged the ruling Zanu-PF party in desperate negotiations for the Prime Minister’s seat.
Mawarire recently made several explosive allegations against opposition leader Chamisa of engaging in secret negotiations with President Emmerson Mnangagwa for personal gain.
He clams the opposition leader initiated talks with the Mnangagwa administration to create a Prime Minister position specifically for himself shortly after losing control of the MDC-Alliance to Douglas Mwonzora.
Mawarire alleges that Chamisa used journalist Hopewell Chin’ono as a go-between to meet with Benson Muneri, an aide to the First Lady, to kickstart these negotiations at Chin’ono’s home in Harare.
But posting on his X handle , Chamisa distanced himself from the allegations, calling on the nation to focus on what is important.
“Fellow CITIZENS, I’m focused on the main show, finding a national solution to #CAB3, not distractions or sideshows. My leadership effort and focus is on our plans and a FRESH START path ahead. The die is cast.
“I say and act with integrity, purpose and in your best interests. Everything I do is grounded in accountability, responsibility, and the national interest. Ignore the sting operations and machinations meant to push a false narrative founded on malice and lies. God bless you.~Forever and always nc,” he said.
