Former opposition MP Amos Chibaya has reported an anonymous death threat to police after receiving a chilling text message warning him against holding a political meeting over the controversial Constitution Amendment No. 3 Bill (CAB3).
The message, received on Monday, June 22, thr*atened that he would “d!e from ars@n” if the meeting planned for Sunday went ahead. The thr/eat, sent in Shona, read: “Chimeeting chamuri kuronga chamangwana chikangoitwa uri kutsvira mumba”
Chibaya lodged the complaint at Milton Park Police Station under RRB 6797835 and confirmed he fears for his life.
The incident comes amid growing intimidation, abductions and assaults targeting CAB3 opponents, including NCA leader Lovemore Madhuku who was recently assaulted and hospitalised. Police say they are investigating.
