Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission (ZHRC) Commissioner, Dr. Eng. Martin Muduva, has died after being attacked with an axe by his wife.
The incident occurred during a suspected domestic dispute in Dzivarasekwa Extension, Harare. According to preliminary reports, Dr. Muduva was struck multiple times with an axe and later succumbed to his severe injuries at a hospital. Following the attack, his wife reportedly drank poison and also passed away.
Dr. Eng. Martin Muduva was a respected academic, a lecturer at Midlands State University, and had been appointed as a ZHRC Commissioner on December 19, 2024. He was highly regarded for his contributions linking human rights with technology.
The attack took place on Tuesday night, resulting in Dr. Muduva’s death the following morning, September 9, 2026
The Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission issued an official statement expressing “profound shock and deep sorrow” over the devastating loss of both Commissioner Muduva and his wife.
