You re’ A Fake Prophet- Temba Mliswa tells Uebert Angel After Chiwenga Defence

By Staff Reporter
Temba Mliswa has fired a salvo at Prophet Uebert Angel, dismissing him as a “fake prophet” and accusing him of hypocrisy following the clergyman’s recent defence of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.
Mliswa’s explosive remarks, delivered in a seven-minute video addressing Angel’s recent sermon, sharply criticised the prophet for involving himself in political matters and accused him of turning a blind eye to Vice President Chiwenga’s alleged insubordination toward President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
The political firestorm was ignited after Angel delivered a sermon at the Hippodrome last Sunday, during which he condemned public criticism of Vice President Chiwenga. During the service, Angel characterised the “vitriolic attacks” against the Vice President as a “disgraceful exhibition of political impropriety” and labeled contempt masquerading as criticism as “diabolic” and “evil.”
In a fierce rebuttal, Mliswa argued that Angel had broken a cardinal rule by dragging the church into politics. “The moment you drag yourself in politics, you are no longer somebody who represents the church; you are a fake prophet,” Mliswa declared in his video address.
Mliswa pointed out what he viewed as a glaring contradiction in Angel’s teachings. He reminded the prophet that he previously taught his congregation that political leaders, specifically the President, are ordained by God and must be respected. Mliswa argued that if Angel genuinely believed his own doctrine, his primary concern should be defending President Mnangagwa against undermining from within his own ranks.
“At what point has the Vice President Chiwenga been insulted or attacked?” Mliswa asked, challenging Angel to provide evidence. Mliswa then accused Chiwenga of undermining the President, explicitly referencing a ZANU PF conference. “I can show you where he has undermined the President… The speech at the conference is very clear. If you read it, it was an attack on the party.”
Mliswa elaborated on this point on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, asserting that it was the Vice President’s camp that had “turned the Presidency into a waiting room” and accused Chiwenga of going “offside” during an October 16 event in Chinhoyi. Mliswa emphasised that Zimbabwe has “one centre of executive power” and that the Vice President serves at the pleasure of the President.
The attack quickly shifted from political critique to deeply personal allegations. Mliswa openly accused Angel of using his political connections as a shield against criminal investigations.
“The reason why you associate with politicians is so that you don’t get arrested for your crimes,” Mliswa alleged in the video. He directly challenged the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) to investigate the clergyman, citing allegations of “sexual scandals.”
“You yourself are involved in many issues. Sexual scandals… You can’t go to England with your shame of rape. You forget that you’ve got skeletons in the wardrobe,” Mliswa claimed, adding that widespread social media allegations accuse the prophet of taking other men’s wives. Mliswa questioned why the police were not investigating these matters, suggesting Angel was being protected due to his proximity to power.
Mliswa concluded his broadside by advising politicians to settle succession battles in parliament and the courts, and urging the church to return to preaching the Gospel rather than acting as public relations officers for political factions.
Uebert Angel has not yet publicly responded to the video or the allegations leveled against him by Mliswa
