THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) says it has so far arrested 530 errant motor cyclists nationwide.
The developments are in line with a press statement issued on 14th January 2026 regarding the conduct of motor cyclists who are failing to comply with road traffic rules and regulations .
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) informs the public that as part of the ongoing nationwide operation dubbed, Register Motor Bikes and Wear Helmets , a total of 530 arrests have so far been made.
“Of these 447 arrests are for operating unregistered plateless motor cycles, while 83 arrests are for riding motor cycles without protective helmets,” said the ZRP.
The Police has noted with concern that some motor cyclists continue to disregard road traffic laws by operating unregistered motor cycles and carrying excess passengers.
“The ZRP reiterates that all motor cyclists, passengers and road users are required to comply with the provisions of the Road Traffic Act Chapter 13:11 and other applicable regulations. The public is advised that the current operation will continue around the country with police officers conducting regular compliance checks and enforcement activities for the safety of Zimbabweans,” added ZRP.
