A Glen View based church pastor will languish in jail for nine months after being charged guilty of fondling a nineteen years old lady without her consent.
The case contained in the National Prosecuting Authority’s statement shows that the accused sought permission from the victim’s mother for her to assist him in cleaning the church.
Upon her arrival to undertake the cleaning chores on December 8 2025, the man of cloth hugged the complainant and began to inappropriately touch her.
Despite her protests, he continued assaulting her and declared his affection for her.
Had it not been of the good Samaritan who interrupted by knocking at the church door the victim may not have been rescued.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), the incident occurred on December 8, 2025, at around 10.30am after the offender Upon arrival, the pastor hugged the complainant and began to inappropriately touch her.
NPAZ condemned the abuse of trust, highlighting that religious leaders are expected to uphold the highest moral standards.
“A pastor is a respected and trusted member of society, and the offender took advantage of the victim by exploiting the trust bestowed on him.”
