A Chiredzi vendor who went viral after att#cking President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Wicknell Chivhayo over their indifference to the suffering of the poor will stand trial for inciting public v#olence on September 23, 2026
Tafadzwa Nelton Matanhuse (32) appeared before Chiredzi Magistrate Lynne Chinzou on Tuesday. He is charged with inciting public v#olence.
The vendor from Chiredzi, was arrested in June 2026 after appearing in a viral video where he criticized President Emmerson Mnangagwa and businessman Wicknell Chivayo. He didn’t physically attack anyone; rather, his “attack” was verbal, expressed through a video and comments made during the demolition of local vending stalls
The video went viral. Police then hunted for him.He handed himself to police on June 23 with his lawyer. He spent two nights in custody.
He was granted US$200 bail on June 25.
As part of his bail, he must report to a local police station once a week. He must live at his given address. He must not interfere with State witnesses.
