Zim ‘hires’  journalists from nine countries for image ‘cleansing exercise’

THE Government has flown journalists from nine African countries that are currently enjoying a luxurious tour in exchange for good publicity which will spruce up the country’s image in the long term.

Posting on social media Tuesday Information, Publicity and broadcasting Services permanent secretary, Nick Mangwana confirmed the developments.   

“A group of African Journalists and Media Personalities from the region arrived in Zimbabwe yesterday for what has been dubbed “THE TRUE ZIMBABWE TOUR”.

“They have been brought in by @InfoMinZW  working together with the Media Company MPC. They are from Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Lesotho, Namibia, Botswana, Eswatini, Tanzania and South Africa,” he said.

He said the ‘hired’ journalists were in the country to experience the hospitality of the Zimbabwean people and to see for them the great work done by the Second Republic in the last five years.

“The True Zimbabwe Tour started in Victoria Falls on August 2023 and will end in Harare on 12 August 2023 and includes visits to successful farming projects, the African Chrome Fields mining operations, the new wing of the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport and others.

“They are traveling with three big South African celebrities Pearl Thusi, Sonia Mbele and veteran actor Sello Maake Ka-Ncube,” added Mangwana.
