Top Golfers endorse The Hills Drive  Range as a Golfing Game-Changer

Top golfers from both Zimbabwe and abroad have lauded The Hills Lifestyle Estate’s newly unveiled Driving Range, calling it a game-changer that sets a world-class standard for golf in Zimbabwe, with the potential to significantly enhance the country’s tourism offerings.

Developed by WestProp Holdings Limited, The Hills Lifestyle Estate is an exclusive, secure, and eco-friendly community in Harare, Zimbabwe. It boasts the country’s first USGA-length championship golf course, designed by renowned architect Peter Matkovitch.

The estate features a mix of luxury villas, townhouses, apartments, and retirement homes, nestled in a verdant setting that includes 82% green space. The development also offers a clubhouse and retail centers, making it a premier destination for both residents and visitors.

At the official launch of The Hills Driving Range on Friday, Zimbabwean professional long-drive specialist and 2023 ULD World Champion Campbell MacMillan shared his excitement about the facility, noting its exceptional quality. Known for his immense power, often hitting drives over 400 yards, MacMillan was quick to recognize the world-class potential of The Hills.

“I’m extremely impressed with what I’ve seen here,” MacMillan said. “The attention to detail in both the space and the quality is second to none. This is world class, and I’m looking forward to coming back and playing here. It’s a game-changer for Zimbabwe’s golfing scene.”

A golf driving range provides a dedicated space for players to practice their swing and shot-making abilities. It is an ideal environment for honing technical skills such as grip, posture, and distance control, often with targets placed at various distances. The Hills Drive Range promises to be a key asset for golfers at all levels, offering an outstanding practice venue with top-tier facilities.

Nyasha Mauchaza, a US-based professional golfer and certified instructor competing on the PGA TOUR Americas, also praised the range’s quality.

“The moment I stepped onto the range, I could feel the state-of-the-art quality of the facility,” Mauchaza said. “The golf course is essential for the sport’s professional development, and this is exactly what we need in Zimbabwe. This facility will undoubtedly contribute to the growth of golf, and I’m excited to see it evolve.”

Zimbabwean golfer Benard Magaso, who has excelled in both amateur and professional circuits, also lauded the driving range, calling it a top-tier facility.

“The quality of the grass, the layout of the holes—it’s top-notch,” Magaso said. “I would rate it among the best in Southern Africa, and locally, it’s going to be the best golf club in the country. It’s still a work in progress, but the work done so far is outstanding. We haven’t had conditions like this in Zimbabwe for a long time. Leopard Rock used to be the gold standard, but the conditions there have deteriorated. This is something special.”

Professional golfer and trainer Emmanuel Hungwe, who has seen a wide range of golf facilities across the region, believes The Hills will soon be considered one of the top golf courses in Southern Africa.

“Regionally, I’d put it in the top 10, on par with the Royal Johannesburg Golf Club,” Hungwe said. “This facility will undoubtedly attract some of the best golfers from around the world, and that can only benefit Zimbabwe’s golfing community.”

With its world-class driving range, top-tier golf course, and unrivaled attention to detail, The Hills Lifestyle Estate is set to become a game-changer for golf in Zimbabwe, bringing not only local prestige but also international recognition to the country’s golfing scene.
