Politburo Meeting Collapses As Chiwenga Challenges Proposed Amendments To The Zanu-PF Constitution

By staff Reporter
In a stunning power move, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga abruptly shut down a high-stakes Zanu-PF politburo meeting, declaring proposed changes to the party’s constitution illegal and forcing President Mnangagwa to abandon the session.
According to a post by Jealousy Mawarire, Chiwenga, standing his ground before top party officials—including First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa—refused to let the meeting proceed, arguing the amendments were based on a “mutilated” and unlawfully changed national constitution. He demanded to see the actual draft changes from Secretary-General Mudenda and challenged the legitimacy of the process, insisting the new national constitution did not reflect the people’s will.
When Justice Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi tried to defend the changes as party-approved, Chiwenga called his bluff, demanding proof of the specific 21 conference resolutions supposedly backing the constitutional overhaul.
The showdown ended with Mudenda relaying Chiwenga’s defiant stance to President Mnangagwa, who promptly called off the meeting. With tensions at an all-time high, Zanu-PF’s internal battle lines are drawn—and the party’s future is on a knife-edge.
