IT never rains but pours for MDC- Alliance president, Douglas Mwonzora following the decision by other alliance partners to dismiss him from representing the coalition over allegations of leading the latter to suffer heavy losses in the just ended elections.

A letter dated March 27 2022 signed by the Zimbabwe People First (ZimPF) secretary general & secretariat Alliance Coordinator, Marakia Bomani bars the embattled leader from speaking or conducting MDC-A business.

“This letter constitutes official notice of your suspension from speaking, representing or conducting MDC-Alliance business in any form, shape or capacity for gross violation of the MDC- Alliance’s agreement of the August 5th 2017 and its amendment.

“Your suspension is with immediate effect till further notice,”   the letter said.

The developments come shortly after Mwonzora broke the all time records, becoming the worst loser in the March 26 by-elections after failing poll any votes even for the local authority elections in what analysts have a described as the last nail to his political career coffin.

.

“The MDC-A was well funded by Mr. and Mrs Tax payer but under your leadership our candidates nationwide failed to win at least one single polling station. You are a disgrace Mr President.

“We are aware of the fact that you are the leader of the opposition in parliament .Therefore the alliance secretariat in consultation with the alliance executive , will be making extensive consultations with Parliament, our legal team and the government seeking solutions on how we should progress with your case,” said Bomani.

The Alliance secretariat   said further consultations will be made with the Alliance partners to determine Mwonzora’s presidium status.
