Latest: Confusion as High Court blocks teachers suspensions

By Staff Reporter
CONFUSION continues to build up in Zimbabwe following the recent setting aside of the teachers unilateral suspensions by the Education Ministry at a time when government has moved to announce the replacement of striking teachers.
A court update in case filed by the Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) Wednesday afternoon confirmed that the suspensions rulings by the relevant ministry were null and void hence the need to set them aside.
The Primary and Secondary Education Ministry was reportedly in a no show at the courts to defend their decision.
The ruling however, coincided with an earlier announcement by the Public Service Commission which moved to advertise posts belonging to striking teachers.
The current developments indicate deep discord and confusion which some political analysts have speculated to indicate the emergence of deep political divisions and factionalism in the corridors of power.
