‘Jittery’ Tshabangu tries to block CCC MPs resignations

CAUGHT unawares, the self imposed Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) secretary general,Sengezo Tshabangu is now in a last ditch bid to defend his relevance after a recent warning that automatic resignations from the party will not be allowed.
This follows the sudden dumping of the defiled CCC party by the main opposition leader,Nelson Chamisa after months of questionable recalls by Tshabangu.
Since late last year a number of duly elected MPs and councillors lost their seats and despite numerous letters by Chamisa instructing the Speaker of Parly and Local Government Minister to stop the onslaught , such requests were not honoured.
The reasons why government authorities in Harare chose to side with the self imposed Tshabangu while ignoring the bonafide opposition party leadership has left citizens suspecting that the latter is working in cahoots with the ruling Zanu-pf party to derail opposition politics.
The developments in CCC have set the stage for the next course of action giving MPs and councillors elected under Chamisa an option to resign and follow their leader or stay put and bury their political careers.
Some like Fadza Mahere have since indicated their willingness to abandon their constituencies and follow their leader.
While many await to see how other legislatyors will react, Tshabangu has issued a warning.
“The law is very clear,no one has resigned from Parliament unless and until when they tender their formal resignation before the speaker of Parly, people need to get things done correctly,as for now,no one has”formally” resigned,we’ve every elected persons on board, fellow Citizens,” he said.
His handfew supporters are also mulling to get a handover and takeover of party assets and funds , threatening to sue Chamisa if that doesn’t happen.
But in a social media post, the Crisis In Zimbabwe Coalition (CiZC) chairman ,Peter Mutasa questionned the rationale behind such concerns.
“If the motive is to recover financial losses? How about those who died? Were abducted and tortured.Whose homes were destroyed.Lost employment .Forced out of the country and many others who faced different afflictions. How will they be repaid as they are not MPs?” he said.
