HIGH Court judge , Justice Never Katiyo has dismissed the Citizens Coalition for Change legislator ,Alan Markham court application in which he demanded the Zimbabwe Elections Commission to avail the voter’s roll ahead of the 2023 polls.
It was filed under Case number HC 7940/22.
The opposition legislator argued that the document is a pre-requisite which was must be handed to all stakeholders for transparency’s sake.
But Judge Katiyo raised security concerns, saying ZEC mandated to safeguard voter’s roll, especially electronic one, claiming it can be tampered with “in this age of social media”
Speaking shortly after the court session Marharm’s lawyer, Denford Halimani expressed defiance.
“This is a live matter, we still need ZEC to give us, the people of Zimbabwe, a voter’s roll,” he said.
