Finance expert, businesswoman Mangudya appointed into Zimpapers board

FINANCE expert and businesswoman, Rutendo Mangudya has been appointed into the Zimbabwe Newspapers (Zimpapers) management board  where she is expected to deploy her expertise in steering the country’s state run mouthpieces to greater heights.

A supply chain professional with a strong background in finance, Rutendo comes from an entrepreneurial background where she has pioneered new companies in the food and allied industries.

She has experience in financial services, logistics, manufacturing and FMCG sectors. She holds a Masters in Banking and International Finance and Economics.

Ms Mangudya is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and holds an Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting.

She is also the daughter of seasoned banker and outgoing Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) governor, Doctor John Mangudya.

Other new board members include veteran media trainer who is an International Relations, Journalism and Political Studies researcher at Africa University, Potraz Director-General Gift Machengete, veteran journalist George Chisoko, NetOne group chief executive Raphael Mushanawani, lawyer Phillip Mbano.

Four other members including Zimpapers chief executive Pikirayi Deketeke, from the old board have been retained until the Annul General Meeting in June. The publicly-owned listed Zimpapers is the oldest newspaper organisation and commercial printer locally, as well as the largest publisher, having been in the industry since 1891 – a year after Cecil John Rhodes’ colonial Pioneer Column arrived in Zimbabwe.
