CONFIRMED Covid-19 cases in Zimbabwe have risen to 17 after three more cases have been recorded in Bulawayo.
This was confirmed by the countryโs health ministry in its latest update on the pandemic on Monday.
Case 15 is that of a 34-year-old woman who has no recent history of travel or known contact with a confirmed case.
โShe was referred for assessment by the local Rapid Response Team (RRT) after she was found to have fever on routine screening,โ said the Health Ministry in a statement.
The victim is reportedly in a stable condition, with mild disease and is self-isolating at home.
โCase 16 is a 52-year-old female resident of Bulawayo, who was a direct contact of the late, case number 11,โ the ministry further said.
โShe consulted with RRT presenting with a 3-day history of headache.
โThe RRT visited her at home for assessment and collected samples for testing, she is stable, mild with disease and is self-isolating at home.โ
Case number 17 is that of a 79-year-old female resident of Bulawayo again who stays in the same-gated community where the late, case number 11 stayed.
โShe however denied any contact with the late. She consulted with the local RRT presenting with a history of cough and difficulty in breathing,โ the Health Ministry said.
โAgain, RRT visited her at home for assessment and collected samples for testing.โ
Currently, she is self-isolation at home with moderate disease.
To date the Health Ministry said it has conducted 604 cases and 587 have been found to be negative.
The countryโs first positive Coronavirus case was recorded in the resort town of Victoria Falls, Bulawayo city now has five, seven are in Harare and four in Mashonaland East province.
