Chiwenga woos investors  for NRZ infrastructure

Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga announced Wednesday that the Zimbabwean government is seeking new partnerships with mining companies and bulk commodity movers to revive the struggling National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ), targeting key corridors including Victoria Falls-Bulawayo and Beitbridge.

Speaking yesterday at the official opening of the International Business Conference at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair, Chiwenga said the government is committed to rehabilitating and expanding the country’s rail systems.

“We are equally committed to revamping rail systems through partnerships with local mining houses and other movers of bulk commodities to restore and enhance our railway infrastructure,” he said.

The VP identified several earmarked railway lines, including Victoria Falls-Bulawayo, Bulawayo-Dabuka, Dabuka-Rutenga-Beitbridge, and Chiredzi-Mvuma-Dabuka.
