Breaking: High Court okays CCC Masvingo rally

THE Masvingo High Court has granted the Citizens Coalition Change rally the green light to hold a rally on Sunday 20 March 2022.
The order is a slap in the face for the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officer commanding Masvingo Central Police District alongside ZRP Commissioner General and Home Affairs Minister who had blocked the rally on the basis that Zanu-pf will be holding similar events closeby.
The trio has been tasked to prove to the court why the rally should not be convened failure of which will result in the provisional order being upheld.
“Terms of the final order sought ; that you show cause to this honorable court why a final order should not be made in the following terms, that the provisional order be and is hereby confirmed , respondents to pay the costs of the suit,” reads the court order.
The country’s leading opposition outfit,CCC has been facing such frustrations from the ZRP lately.
Last week, the party failed to hold a rally in Marondera after the police defied a court order granting the party permission to convene a rally in what experts warn as an indications of new lows in the rule of law breakdown.
