‘Biased’ prosecutor kicked off Prophet Magaya’s case

By Staff Reporter
The National Prosecuting Authority has given in to clergyman Walter Magaya’s request to have top prosecutor Tendayi Shonhayi removed from his rape trial for allegedly being biased on religious grounds.
In an urgent letter addressed to the Prosecutor General on Tuesday, Magaya cried foul accusing Shonhayi of being biased against him because she is a member of a rival church UFIC which is led by Emmanuel Makandiwa.
He accused her of being on a mission of her own to try and persecute him on the basis that she wants to destroy his church for the benefit of UFIC which is a competing rival church.
While the NPA didn’t make a formal response, Shonhayi is no longer part of the team that has appeared in court today (Wednesday) representing the State.
NPA’s spokesperson Angeline Munyeriwa is now part of the team joining Clemence Chimbare, Kudakwashe Chigwedere and Foelane Muronda.
