Musicians to stage demo at ZIMURA offices

By Arts Writer

Over the past few weeks, tensions within ZIMURA have escalated following boardroom disputes and growing concerns from artists over governance and royalty distribution.

Three board members were removed after accusing the organisation of mismanagement, sparking wider debate within the music industry.

Artists have since raised allegations including lack of transparency, the sale of ZIMURA property without consultation, and concerns over how royalties are administered.

 In response, artists are planning a demonstration on Thursday, 5 February, assembling at Belgravia Shopping Centre at 9AM before marching to the ZIMURA Head Offices. The march aims to demand greater transparency and accountability. The situation continues to develop.

The allegations  are now undeniable and they are an insult to every creator;

  • 73% of all our royalty collections was used for “expenses” while artists were paid just $475,650 – *less than the 1 million plus paid to the organisation’s expenses and own staff.
  • The ZIMURA office building in Avondale was sold without member consultation, accountability; amid serious allegations of a conflict of interest.
  • Members who speak out are harassed intimidated or expelled unproceduarally. Whilst others are given brown envelopes for their silence. Typical Maffia style tactics.
  • The organisation is now being run by an illegal board captured by management and led by a self appointed chairman.
  • This is not mismanagement. This is a coordinated betrayal of the membership.
