PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa says Zimbabwe is getting much better under the Zanu-PF rule on the back of threats to act against the obtaining ‘price madness.’
The remarks come at a time when the cost of living for ordinary Zimbabweans continues to spiral beyond reach as the cost of living has rapidly overtaken incomes on the back of an excruciating El Nino induced drought which has pushed many into abject poverty.
But addressing the 375th session of the Politburo Wednesday Mnangagwa blamed economic saboteurs and he also took the opportunity to promise cross cutting economic measures to restore stability.
This is despite the fact that the Zim dollar has been on a downward spiral prompting prices to sustain an upward trend.
“My government is determined to imnplement responsive interventions towards arresting speculative activities , inflation , price increases and stabilising the exchange rate.
“Equally important our home grown innovative solutions and hard and honest work remain critical to increasing production and productivity in every sector.This must see us continually improving the quality of life for our citizenry and ultimately realise Vision 2030,” he said.
Mnangagwa said Under Zanu-pf rule Zimbabwe has remained a strong and resilient democratic state , never to give in to the whims of former colonisers and erstwhile forces some of whom are behind speculative behaviour dogging the market.
He said Zimbabwe is a counry of unparalleled natural endowments with irreversible socio-economic developments.
He added ,”No one and nothing will reverse our developmenty work and the gains we have realised to date.
“My government will continue to roll out measures to address the negative effects of droughts and climate change .
“I challenge the party to take the lead at the cell/village level to keep our grassroots updated and knowledgeable about the national climate action plan ,mincluding promoting conservation agriculture methods , as well as building resilience and adaptive capacities.”
