Chitown man arrested after hitting landlady with a car in nasty rental arrears feud

A 33-year-old man from Chitungwiza allegedly hit his sister’s former landlady with a car after a row over unpaid rent.

Marvelous Sihlangu allegedly struck Tafadzwa Chiriseri, 27, with the fender of his Nissan March in Zengeza, Chitungwiza.

Chiriseri had earlier bitten Sihlangu’s finger as the argument escalated.

The incident, confirmed by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), occurred along Mafukachuma Road in Zengeza 2 just after midday on 13 July 2026.

According to Harare provincial spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, Chiriseri went to the residence of Sihlangu’s sister, Nomisilo Nyathi, to demand outstanding rent.

Nyathi reportedly told her she did not have the money. Chiriseri allegedly responded by seizing Nyathi’s sofas and loading them onto a push cart.

“She then phoned the accused’s brother, who is the accused person, and he rushed to his sister’s house,” said Chakanza.

“A misunderstanding arose, resulting in the complainant biting the accused’s left middle finger before she fled the scene.

“On the same day, at around 1210 hours, the accused was on his way to Chitungwiza Hospital when he met the complainant and allegedly hit her with his motor vehicle.”

Chakanza revealed that Chiriseri sustained fractured lower limbs on both legs and was taken to Chitungwiza Hospital for treatment.

Sihlangu was arrested and is now facing attempted murder charges
