CAB # 3 needs serious introspection as a matter of urgency –Analyst

By Leonard Koni

Contrary to what some Zanu PF propagandists wish to tell Zimbabweans, Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 has nothing to do with national development, peace, or stabilization.

The last 46 years of dictatorship and hollow promises have been endured by Zimbabweans.

President Mnangagwa intends to use this route , Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3, to take away the one man, one vote that the freedom fighters fought for. The most heinous thing this regime is doing is depriving most Zimbabweans of their right to participate in the day-to-day operations of their nation.

Because he is aware that a referendum would send him reeling, Mnangagwa is attempting to avoid it. A referendum must be held to determine whether the #CAB3 is truly in the best interests of the people.

To be clear, Bill No. 3 of the Constitutional Amendment has the potential to permanently destroy all elections. The president of a democratic nation cannot be chosen solely by lawmakers, who are known to be bought off to support particular candidates.

The current regime was established by a military coup, and regrettably, we are currently dealing with another constitutional coup that is being disguised as a national development agenda. As old as he is, Mnangagwa can return in 2030 and extend it to 2050, establishing a dynasty, if he is permitted to pass through this one.

In reality, the regime’s desire to turn Zimbabwe into a one-party state is unquenchable. They wish to imitate China’s actions. Let that sink in. This new bill has angered some Zanu PF members. The bill’s opponents are being victimized.

This Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 is out of order, completely fraudulent, and extremely dangerous. After taking office in 1980, what does President Mnangagwa hope to accomplish in the next two years? Food for thought.
