THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has turned down a request by the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) political party to convene the 2023 elections campaign launch in Chiredzi.
Responding to the CCC party’s notification ZRP Chiredzi District Regulatory Authority, Chief Superintendent, R Chihwereva said the request cannot be granted.
“I refer to your notification dated June 30 2023 on the above matter in terms of Section 7 of the Maintenance of Peace and Order Act Chapter 11:2.Your notification has been noted,” he said.
He however said, unfortunately, there will be a State occasion on 5/7/23 for the official opening of Rusununguko Clinic in Chiredzi by the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Masvingo Province where all the resources are focused.
“Your notification has not been approved in terms opf Section 8 of the Maintenance of Peace and Order Act,” added Chihwereva.
