Zim NGOs, citizens move to petition UN over Palestine killings

NGOs and citizens in Zimbabwe are organising a march against Israeli attacks on Palestine and intend to handover a petition at the UN offices in Harare.
A series of coordinated attacks, conducted by the Palestinian Islamist militant group Hamas, from the Gaza Strip onto bordering areas in Israel, commenced on Saturday 7 October 2023, a Sabbath day and date of several Jewish holidays.
In an update the organisers said they are currently waiting to get a not from the authorities.
“According to the updated information, the Zimbabwe Republic Police did not give any authorisation to any march for organisations until now to express their solidarity with the Palestinian people against the Israeli Genocide.
“We will continue to work with the official authorities and solidarity communities in Zimbabwe to get the necessary approval to go ahead with such activities needed support the oppressed Palestinian people,” the organisers said in a statement.
The organisers said their common struggle is against the Israeli colonial occupation and the illegal sanctions against Zimbabwe will continue.
“ Meanwhile, we urge all the progressive peoples to show their deep support and solidarity with the brave Palestinian people in all social media platforms to expose the lies and the Israeli fake stories that are supported by the colonial propaganda,” the statement added.
