Zanu-pf gears to take over Mahere’s abandoned seat

THE ruling Zanu-PF party is mid way through with preparations to take over parliamentary seats in Mt Pleasant and Harare East Constituencies.

The two seats fell vacant following the resignation of Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) legislators Advocate Fadzayi Mahere and Alan Markham.The duo opted to stand by their leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa when he abandoned the political outfit citing rampant infiltration.

However, the ruling Zanu-PF party is geared to take over the constituencies and is currently working flat out to reclaim victory ahead of the April 21 by elections.

The ruling party’s members , Lynnette Mahlaba and Kelvin Mutimbanyoka battled it out in Harare East constituencies over the weekend , with scores of supporters turning out to elect candidates who will represent the party.

Cdes Lynnette Mahlaba and Kelving Mutimbanyoka battled it out in Harare East , while Cdes George Mashavave ,Jaison Pasadi, Chris Chuchu and Biddle Gwasira contested in Mt Pleasant.

Briefing the media in Mt Pleasant Constituency Zanu-PF Secretary for Information and Publicity Ambassador Chris Mutsvangwa said the elections went well.

“The voters have been here since morning , patiently going through the processes and there are many of them who have been coming through the processes of making sure that there is a fair and open election.

“And once there is a winner , you can see by the cordial atmosphere among the voters , they will bend around the winner , to make sure that the Zanu-PF candidates wins the by-elections.

“So we want to thank the party for running the elections , especially our Political Commissar Mike Bimha,” he said.
