WestProp CEO Sharpe fights social media impersonators

WESTPROP  Holdings CEO, Mr. Ken Sharpe, has issued a public warning following the emergence of multiple fraudulent social media accounts impersonating him and soliciting money from unsuspecting individuals.

The fake accounts—some of which have been traced to a man residing in Nketa, Bulawayo, using a NetOne mobile line 0719200225—are actively deceiving followers through WhatsApp, Facebook, and other platforms, posing as Mr. Sharpe and requesting financial contributions under false pretenses.

LEGAL ACTION UNDERWAY

The perpetrators face serious legal consequences under Zimbabwean law, including:

•             Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act [Chapter 9:23]

•             Section 136 – Fraud: Misrepresentation for financial gain.

•             Section 164C – Cyber Impersonation: Electronic impersonation with intent to defraud.

•             Section 164D – Transmission of False Data: Publishing harmful or deceptive digital content.

•             Data Protection Act [Chapter 11:12]

•             Section 35 – Unlawful Processing of Personal Data: Unauthorized use of identity or likeness.

•             Section 37 – Cybercrime and Cybersecurity Offences: Includes identity theft and phishing.

•             Telecommunications Act

•             Misuse of mobile services for criminal activity may result in service termination and prosecution.

WestProp Holdings urges the public to:

•             Engage only with verified accounts of Mr. Ken Sharpe and WestProp Holdings.

•             Report suspicious activity to Meta, WhatsApp, and local authorities.

•             Avoid sending money or personal information to any unverified contact claiming to represent Mr. Sharpe.
