HARARE – Police are intensely focused on the late Harare businessman Joseph Mutangadura’s wife Patience Dambudzo as they intensify investigations into the mysterious murder of the local tycoon last week.
Mutangadura, who was buried at the weekend, was shot dead by seven masked men at his Lisheen Estate farmhouse in Ruwa, with nothing valuable stolen.
The suspects’ actions and how the murder plot happened have raised questions about whether the robbery was genuine or a targeted hit.
Police subsequently confiscated Patience’s cellphone for further investigations, sparking some speculation about potential insider involvement.
Mutangadura and Patience’s marriage was on the rocks after allegations of cheating and adultery last year.
The adultery scandal rocked Harare social scenes amid a fierce vengeance attempt by Mutangadura who hunted his wife’s alleged lover up and down in vain.

At the time of the murder, the two were back together but the situation had remained tense.Patience was last year accused of sleeping with a local public relations personality, but she vehemently denied it and no evidence was ever produced to back the allegations.
After the killing incident, Mutangadura’s wife – now widow – was left unconscious and hospitalised in a critical condition, yet she remains in the police investigation orbit.
Authorities have launched a nationwide manhunt for the seven suspects involved in the murder and are working to determine the motive behind the killing.
