THE Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) has endorsed The Hills Lifestyle Golf Estate , describing it as an impressive project which is set to aid sport development in Zimbabwe.

Developed by WestProp Holdings Limited, the project is an ultra-luxurious, secure gated community located in Harare. This estate features the country’s first USGA-length championship golf course.  The development focuses on a “live, work, shop, and play” concept.

It includes world-class tennis and swimming academies, with tennis facilities spearheaded by the Lock Brothers

Speaking to The Humanitarian Post after touring the facility Thursday, SRC Director Legal and Corporate Services, Peter Mudzimiri described the project as “highly impressive”.

“I think as the SRC, the main reason why we came here was to appreciate this massive sporting infrastructure.  I think as SRC we are impressed. This development fits in well with our national development strategy in terms of standardization and access to a sporting facility by our population.

“It also assists in terms of what we are developing here; it also assists in terms of sport tourism. So I think this is a huge development which I think SRRC will then also take it upon to the government so that they can get the necessary support that is needed to see through this development,” said Mudzimiri.

The SRC leader said he would sit down with the WestProp Holdings CEO, Mr Ken Sharpe and consider ways to work hand in glove.

“Yes, this is quite a huge investment. You see from the plans they shared with us, we are sure that the public will also be able to access this sporting facility. It is well positioned for the greater population to also have access and participate in this, especially in the immigration side of things,” Mudzimiri  added.
