Silveira House extends support to communities in Jeka Bridge rehab

By Staff Writer

SILVEIRA House has recorded another success story in Mberengwa’s Ward 33 after bringing the community stakeholders to the table in finding a lasting solution to repair broken infrastructure.

The latest developments follows an outcry by villagers living along the Mwezha range who bemoaned the heavy destruction of Jeka Bridge , Mutsime Bridge and rising cases of dust pollution in the area.

Whilst positive efforts to rehabilitate the roads by Sandawana were highly applauded, SH assisted community members who attended the District Stakeholder Impact Assessment Meeting to devise formal strategies to push for final solutions to the problems.

Working hand in hand, with Silveira House providing guidance, the parties came up with an action plan to petition responsible authorities on matters to address broken bridges especially the Jeka Bridge.

The community leaders committed to meet to draft letter to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development, Local Mining companies and other key stakeholders. The contents of the letter would be aimed at seeking assistance for expertise to repair the Jeka Bridge, seeking to know the cost of raw materials to use on the bridge repairs.

The letter to be sent to Sandawana Mine, the community members said, would lodge a request for financial support to acquire to needed materials.

Silveira House pledged to support the efforts if need be as the final solution to the matter is pursued.

The development marked a milestone success for the Mberengwa Ward 33 stakeholders who are expected to build on the breakthrough in resolving future economic challenges.

In his closing remarks, Chief Mudavanhu appreciated the efforts and urged the local stakeholders to keep the promises.

“We hope that those who receive our grievances on behalf of the miners who approached the local Councilor and expressed interest in tapping our minerals will take these concerns seriously. If our concerns are met and if we create a win-win situation, nothing will stop all stakeholders from enjoying cordial relations. Extracting our minerals without leaving any dividends for the communities will just serve to escalate the differences between the parties,” he said.
