ALL is set for the Pomona flats groundbreaking ceremony on 29 July following a successful uptake of the apartments offering – marking a pivotal moment in Harare’s urban evolution.
The groundbreaking ceremony signals the beginning of construction work of the first batch of the apartment blocks tucked into the US$4 billion Pomona project.
Pomona dubbed a “City within a City” estate borders with one of Harare’s premier golf clubs – Wingate and is within striking distance of Harare’s growing commercial hubs – the Green Zone.
The development promises more attraction with the ongoing road works on Alpes Road – that will address issues of accessibility and ease of travel.
Occupancy is expected within a year from the construction start date.
The Pomona flats become the first highrise development in Harare North and the first such development in a live, work, shop and place enclave.
WestProp chief executive Mr Ken Sharpe has often described the development as “a home, workstation, entertainment and shopping hub where the new urbanite thrives”.
A total of 22 blocks consisting of 16-unit apartments on three floors each – will be decorate the Pomona landscape creating a new vibrant community and opportunities for business.
This means in phase 1 there will be 352 apartment units – translating to housing 352 families. Phase 2 will have the same number of units. The architects created spacious parking space of 530 bays for residents and 178 for visitors.
According to development permit from City of Harare “the gate shall always be manned or be electronically controlled”.
The Pomona gatehouse is already in place.
Nestled in the bigger Pomona City within a city enclave – the apartments offer safety and affordable luxury for new families while introducing them to the new urban life where one can live, work, shop and play within a 15-minute walk to all amenities.
A 15-minute city is a walkable, self-sufficient neighborhood where residents can access work, schools, shops, parks, and healthcare within a 15-minute walk or bike ride.
The brainchild of Mr Ken Sharpe the chief executive of WestProp Holdings – Pomona City is the true measure of urban lifestyle living.
“People buying into the city will always be happy because of the safety, sense of community and returns on investment,” he said.
The 18-hole Wingate Golf Course is one of the key features abutting Pomona City coupled with the new shopping hubs taking shape along Harare Drive. The golf course with its club house and pristine greens offers a multi-million-dollar garden feature to Pomona residents.
Some key features of the Pomona apartments include spacious 2-to-4-bedroom units with modern finishes, a state-of-the-art artificial intelligence powered security system, swimming pool, gym and other recreational amenities.
When it is built and completed the estate will have a shopping mall adorned with fine dining facilities, general eateries, banks, and anchor supermarkets among other pull factor facilities.
