Mnangagwa leaves for Uganda and DRC
By Staff Writer
PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has left the country heading for Uganda where he will attend two summits before passing through the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Details of his itinerary show that in Uganda, he will attend the 19th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summits.
He is also set to participate in the Third South Summit in same country.
The meeting of Non-Aligned Movement members is being held when Zimbabwe is forging ahead with the re-engagement and engagement drive in line with vision 2030 aspirations of an upper middle-income society by 2030.
Uganda is hosting the NAM Summit which will be followed by the G77 plus China Indaba with the focus on facilitating more business and investment engagements as well as discussions on trade and investments including food security.
Thereafter, he is also scheduled to attend the inauguration ceremony of DRC President Felix Tshisekedi.
Uganda and Zimbabwe share unique similarities, with both countries being blacklisted by the West. The East African nation recently angered the West after enacting very harsh anti-LGBTI laws which contradicts the West’s human rights freedom philosophy.
DRC’s Tshisekedi was among the few heads of State who defied the odds by attending President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s inauguration last year.
The two nations also enjoy back dated cordial relations.
