A leaked tweet post this week confirms that the UK embassy in Harare held a meeting with the newly formed Citizens for Coalition Change (CCC) leadership.
Widely circulated by former Herald Editors, Tichaona Zindoga , the tweet quotes a message from theUK Parliamentary Under-Secretary, Vicky Ford confirming the developments.
“The UK remains concerned by the political and human rights situation in Zimbabwe, including the lack of accountability for human rights violations.
“The UK has noted the formation of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) and embassy officials have met with CCC leadership.The UK will continue to engage all parties across the political spectrum and urge the Government of Zimbabwe to live up to their own constitution, ensure the opposition and civil society are allowed to operate without harassment , and enable free and fair electons in 2023.
Relations between the Western power have deteriorated recently as Harare has accused the UK of interference in internal matters of the country.
