LATEST: ZEC questions Chamisa’s CCC party credentials
By Dylan Murambgi
IN a sudden twist of events, the Zimbabwe Elections Commission (ZEC) has written to the Citizens for Coalition Change (CCC) demanding the party’s credentials in a development which political analysts fear could be a ploy to destabilize the party.
A letter seen by The Humanitarian Post dated January 24 signed by the ZEC chief elections officer ,Utoile Silaigwana and addressed to CCC president, Advocate Nelson Chamisa shows that fresh problems are brewing.
“We acknowledge receipt of your letter dated 24 January 2022 .
“In order to update our database, please could you kindly confirm whether Citizens Coalition for Change is a new political party?
“If so please furnish us with the following details ,Log of your organization, the physical address of your organization for service of documents and inclusion in Commission Activities, Your organization contact persons, your organization constitution,” reads the letter in part.
The developments have immediately aroused excitement in the ruling party Zanu-pf circles with @Zanu-Pf Patriots saying, “It may end in tears for the new CCC considering that there is another CCC registered which was in 2021.”
Last year, one Farai Zhou registered almost similar political outfit titled Citizens Convergence for Change amid allegations that she conspired with infiltrators in Chamisa’s camp who leaked documents containing details on the proposed name changes in a bid to frustrate the latter.
