PROPERTY business tycoon and philanthropist, Ken Sharpe has injected a whopping US$100 000 which will fund the establishment of a popcorn factory.

The factory will go a long way to generate ongoing support for the beneficiaries of the Commissioner-General’s Goodwill Trust Fund, with 100% of the profits dedicated to the noble cause.

The Goodwill Trust Fund was established in 2011 out of serious concern for children and spouses of Correctional Officers who were left in dire straits following the death of a working parent or guardian.

Some orphans of deceased officers were forced to drop out of school due to a lack of fees, uniforms and other necessities, leading to a life of social delinquency, with some boys and girls turning to drug abuse and resorting to begging and prostitution.

In a speech read on behalf of Sharpe , it was revealed that the handout was a collaborative effort to support the noble cause.

“The funding is a collaborative effort between WestProp’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme and the Sharpe Family Philanthropic Trust, Kusimbisa, underscoring our commitment to impactful, community-centered development.

“Ladies and gentlemen, this is just our commitment to the ongoing support WestProp Holdings will continue to give to you, Commissioner General and your Team to help you continue to do the great work you’re doing in helping the under privileged people in your community,” he said.

To date , the Trust Fund has so far assisted a total number of 450 disadvantaged children of which 269 have successfully completed their respective education and academic levels.

Currently, the Fund is taking care of 181 beneficiaries (110 males and 71 females) who comprise:06 in tertiary institutions,70 in Secondary Schools, and 105 in Primary Schools.
