Just In: SADC preps team jets into Harare for six days long visit

TECHNICAL experts from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) arrived in the country yesterday to assess Zimbabwe’s preparedness to host the upcoming 44th SADC Summit, which begins on August 8.
The team will spend six days in the country , engaging with technical committees and finalizing logistical arrangements for the Summit .
The Foreign Affairs and International Trade Ministry’s spokesperson, Michael Makura confirmed the visit Thursday.
“We wish to advise the nation that the third and final SADC Technical Assessment Team is expected to undertake a visit to Zimbabwe from 17 to 23 July 2024 to appreciate ,first hand, the progress made in preparation for the 44th SADC Summit to be held from 8th to 18th August 2024,” he said.
He said during the visit SADC mission will engage technical committees responsible for Summit preparations and finalise logistical and other relevant issues.
“The mission will also seek an update on the country’s state of preparedness to host the SADC Industrialisation Week that will be convened from July 28 to August 2 2024 at the Harare International Conference Center,” the statement added.
