THE Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) is set to undergo a restructuring exercise as part of its recapitalisation strategy.

The Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Dr Jenfan Muswere this Thursday toured the ZBC stand at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) to appreciate what the national broadcaster is doing in terms of content creation and digitisation.

The Minister said the ZBC board is working on a plan to recapitalise the national broadcaster.

“ZBC has been collecting revenue from less than 50 000 users, yet there are over a million users. The restructuring of the organisation is of importance. As government, we are relaunching phase two of the Zim-digital programme. The project will ensure we have plus 99percent in terms of coverage of TV and radio services.”

He also noted that the amendments of the Broadcasting Services Act are also of importance in terms of the country’s legislative agenda.

“The Broadcasting Services Act is of priority and importance in order to align ZBC’s revenue collection with other institution.”

There has been steps to modernise the ZBC studios, and the government is working on amplifying that.
