State-owned mobile operator NetOne recorded an 18.5% increase in data traffic, rising from 25.29 billion megabytes in Q3 2025 to 29.97 billion megabytes in Q4, according to the latest sector performance figures.
The growth represents one of the strongest performances among Zimbabwe’s major mobile network operators and translated into a 1.14 percentage point increase in NetOne’s mobile internet and data traffic market share.
The operator also expanded its active subscriber base from 4.06 million to 4.10 million during the quarter, reflecting sustained customer confidence.
NetOne attributed the gains to a targeted infrastructure expansion strategy aimed at improving connectivity across urban and rural areas. During the quarter, the company added 89 LTE base stations and increased its 5G sites from 21 to 26.
As a result, the operator now manages 46.14% of Zimbabwe’s rural base stations, supporting efforts to bridge the digital divide and expand access to education, healthcare, financial services, and digital commerce.
“The results affirm our commitment to connecting communities, empowering businesses and accelerating Zimbabwe’s digital transformation through resilient and accessible network infrastructure,” said NetOne Group CEO Engineer Raphael Mushanawani.
The Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) noted NetOne’s progress in 3G and LTE deployment, highlighting its growing role in the country’s digital transformation. NetOne has also introduced services such as OneMoney, affordable broadband packages, and innovative data bundles for students, entrepreneurs, and rural communities.
In recognition of his leadership, Engineer Mushanawani was recently inducted into the Business Leaders Hall of Fame 2026, underscoring the national significance of NetOne’s ongoing transformation into a modern digital services provider.
