BELOW are the pictures of recently held event which saw Katswe Sisterhood distributing 50 beehives to the Doma-Irira Community, a minority group in Mashonaland Central Province.

The CSO whose activities are premised on providing last solutions to communities most pressing problems made the gesture after realising that the community has been extracting honey from the trees using old methods of cutting down trees leading to deforestation.

“Therefore Katswe Sistahood introduced apiary as part of sustainable livelihood and environmental justice.

“The Apiary Initiative in the Doma community is supported by the Minority Rights Group International through the project Furthest Behind First which seeks to empower minority and indigenous communities so they can access health services, challenge human rights abuses, and get recognized for the role they play in environmental protection,” the CSO said in a recent update.
