PROMINENT businessman Joseph Mutangadura, affectionately known as Mutangaz, was gunned down last night at his Lisheen Estate farmhouse in Ruwa.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, leaving the community in disbelief and mourning.

Mutangadura, a well-known figure in the business world, was the owner of Lisheen Estate and the popular Mutangadura Hideout, along with several butcheries and other ventures.
A team of detectives from the CID Homicide in Harare has been dispatched to the scene to investigate the incident.

Details emerge in the shooting of businessman Mutangaz


According to sources, investigations made so far have revealed that the prominent businessman was shot dead by seven suspected robbers at his Lisheen Estate farmhouse.
Sources indicate that the robbers raided the farm and confronted Mutangadura, demanding cash.

It is alleged that he informed the robbers that he had no cash on him and that all the daily takings were in the abattoir. They then shot him in the stomach before firing more than five additional shots into his chest before fleeing the scene.

In an interview, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.


“I am still waiting for the details of the case and will soon issue a comprehensive statement on what transpired,” he said.

Police have intensified investigations into the case in which the prominent businessman Joseph Mutangadura, popularly known as Mtangaz, was shot dead by seven suspected robbers at his Lisheen Estate farmhouse in Ruwa on Sunday.
Mutangadura owned Lisheen Estate, the popular Mutangadura Hideout, several butcheries, and various other businesses.

In a statement, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said, “The Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating cases of murder and robbery, which occurred at a farm along Dustain Road, Ruwa, popularly known as Mutangadura Hideout, on 17th August 2025 at around 2300 hours, where businessman Joseph Mutangadura, aged 67, was shot dead during a suspected robbery incident.

Seven unknown suspects, who were armed with unidentified pistols, claw bars, and hammers, while covering their faces with balaclavas, pounced on the business premises, where they attacked the security guard who was securing the premises.

“They tied his hands with shoelaces and took him to the victim’s house, where they broke in through the door using metal bars.”
He said the suspects forced the security guard and the victim’s son to lie down in the dining room while proceeding to the room where the victim was sleeping with his wife.

“The suspects shot the victim in the stomach and ransacked the house before leaving. The victim and his wife, who were both unconscious, were rushed to Eden Hospital, Windsor, Ruwa, where the victim was pronounced dead upon arrival. The details and value of the stolen property are yet to be verified. More details will be released in due course.”

A team of detectives from the CID Homicide in Harare was then deployed to the farm to conduct investigations.
