Dr Joe Guti takes charge of ZAOGA helm

ZAOGA Forward in Faith Ministries has ushered in a new era of leadership following the consecration of Dr Joseph Joe Guti as the new Archbishop of the Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa (ZAOGA), succeeding the church’s founder, Dr Ezekiel Guti, who died in 2023.

Dr Guti was appointed to the office of Archbishop, having previously served as the church’s Presiding Bishop.

The colourful ceremony was held at the Africa Multination for Christ College (AMFIC) in Harare this Sunday, and was presided over by senior Archbishop Professor Eunor Guti alongside two Archbishops from South Africa and Mozambique.

Also elevated was the church’s Secretary General, Apostle Mishael Nyambo, who was promoted to the rank of Bishop while his deputy, Apostle Dr Stephen Simukai was also elevated to become Bishop.

In an interview with ZBC News, Bishop Nyambo pledged the church’s continued support to work together with government in national development.

“We are still continuing and nothing is stopping Dr Guti was not doing it alone. He trained us how to do it and he showed us. As I am speaking we just finished a another University which is a a satellite to one in Bindura. Schools are being still built and if you go to Mbuya Dorcas Hospitals today we have upgraded. We have also built diabetic pharmacy there to cater for patients. We have also introduced four more schools. With our new leader who has been instrumental in developing schools with Dr Guti , the sky is the limit,” ZAOGA FIF Secretary General, Bishop Mishael Nyambo said.

Also present was the Secretary for Presidential Affairs and Devolution in the Office of the President and Cabinet, Engineer Tafadzwa Muguti who said government acknowledges the role being played by the church in national development.

“As government of Zimbabwe we are grateful to the ZAOGA Forward in Faith Ministries, and we are so grateful that our late Archbishop Baba Guti had a vision of national development. As government we remain steadfast that the church is doing it’s party. Also from the commitment made today that nothing is going to change we are grateful that the church will continue. We are leaving in Nehemiah times and because of that nothing should stand on our way and the Vision of our President Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, the father of this nation as we are rebuilding our nation will go on,” Dr Muguti said.
