Anglican Church Fatal accident : 7 die,14 hospitalised,3 critically injured

In a tragic turn of events, seven people died after a bus carrying church members from Bernard Mizeki in Marondera caught fire. The Passion Link bus was transporting pilgrims when the devastating incident occurred on Sunday evening

An eyewitness and driver of a ZUPCO bus shared a video detailing the tragic scene.

According to an eyewitness who is also a driver of a ZUPCO bus, the fire broke out near a place referred to as “PaIshe” at Chibodzwa.

In a statement, Anglican’s National Shrines Chairperson, Rev Fr Edwin Selemani confirmed the deths.

He recounted the harrowing moments as the bus was engulfed in flames, with victims crying out in pain. Despite the efforts of bystanders, they could only watch helplessly as the fire consumed the bus.

Other eyewitness said one bus managed to pass through before the road was blocked by the burning vehicle.

“I am officially communicating the accident that happened this evening in Manicaland. A bus carrying Pilgrims from Bernard Mizeki caught fire and 7 people died, 14 hospitalised and 3 critically Injured. Bishop Eric and our National Committee member Fr Muponde are currently on the scene with the police.

“May God grant rest to the souls of the departed , healing to the injured and comfort to the bereaved. Prayers are with Bishop Ruwona and the Diocese of Manicaland family,” he said.
