IN a shocking twist of events some parents from David Livingstone Primary School have jolted to the defence of the kidnapper driver (Mr Honde) indicating that he seems to be slowly losing his mind.
Viral audios being circulated by the section of parents describes the driver as a very responsible chap who would not go to the extremes of kidnapping.
“I am so pained by what happened at David Livingstone. The most disappointing part is that the kombi driver Sekuru Honde is a parent at this school and is a very responsible man,” one parent said.
The parent goes on to say that the driver needs prayers in hospital where he is being examined as she stresses that nobody really knows what happened to him.
“So far there is no correct version of what happened.Even his children who are in the midst of the situation need prayers to be able to assist their father,” she said.
The lady says they have known the driver to be a very responsible and mature person who can’t be placed in the category of of kidnapping.
“I don’t know and I can’t judge him.All I can say for now is let’s just pray for him .He is one of us even calling him to give him words of encouragement will be better.Let’s avoid harsh comments,” she said.
Another female parent also concurs saying when she travelled to Marondera to pick up her child she talked to Mr Honde on Thursday night who showed that he still knows every parent .
“When we asked him what happened he also expressed confusion. He blamed the police officers for detaining him unnecessarily and was worried that he needed to rush back to school pick up kids who are dismissed at 4pm despite the time being already around 2am Friday morning,” she said.
She said when they asked him if was aware of the place he is at currently and he said he was told that he is currently in Macheke.
“When we asked him again how he drove from David Livingstone he simply said he took the Kuwadzana Extension route but was shocked to be told that he is now in Macheke.
“He said he even argued with the people at the Toll Gate on his way to Macheke who asked him to pay toll fees which he disputed arguing that he was headed for Kuwadzana where such payments were not due. However he said he ended up paying to avoid quarrels,” the parent said.
The parent maintained that if anyone listens to what Mr Honde is saying they will notice that he seems to be losing his mind.
“Sometimes he really remembers everything but he keeps sticking to the fact he is being delayed and needs to pick us his kids. When we left the hospital he was waiting for a Psychiatric Doctor to exmine him,” added the woman.
