It is with deep sadness that we report seven Highlanders Football Club supporters have perished in a car crash on their way from Barbourfields Stadium to Filabusi.
The accident is understood to have occurred as the fans were traveling home following a match at Barbourfields in Bulawayo. Details around the exact cause of the crash are still emerging.
Emergency services responded to the scene, but sadly all seven occupants lost their lives.
Highlanders FC, the Premier Soccer League, and football fans across the country have sent messages of condolence to the bereaved families.
Authorities are continuing investigations and more details will follow as they become available.
Highlanders chairman Retired Colonel Kenneth Mhlophe, vice-chairman Sifiso Siziba, finance executive Nkani Khoza and supporter Mbalenhle Sibanda died in the July accident.
More details on Sunday’s accident were expected as police and other authorities continued investigations.
