Haritatos set to transform Lands and Rural Development Ministry

PRESIDENT Mnangagwa has split the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Fisheries and Rural Development into two ministries and made fresh senior appointments in Government with immediate effect.

The appointments were announced by the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Martin Rushwaya, in a statement last night.

Mr Vangelis Haritatos was appointed  Minister of Lands and Rural Development, while Dr Anxious Masuka has been given the Agriculture, Mechanisation and Water Resources Development brief.

“Following a review of the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Fisheries and Rural Development portfolio, His Excellency the President, Cde Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, notifies that the ministry has been divided into two separate portfolios,” said Dr Rushwaya.

The two new portfolios are the Ministry of Lands and Rural Development and the Ministry of Agriculture, Mechanisation and Water Resources Development.

“Consequently, in terms of Subsection 1 of Section 104 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, His Excellency the President, Cde Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has made the following appointment and re-assignment,” said Dr   Rushwaya.

“The appointment and re-assignment are with immediate effect.”

Dr Rushwaya said the restructuring was effected in terms of Section 104(1) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe.
