Women for Prosperity Conference selects 11 entrepreneurs for mentorship

THE two days long Women’s For Prosperity conference has ended on a high note after selecting 11 entrepreneurs who are set to receive world class mentorship on how best to improve their ventures.

The eye opening event which exposed participants to a series of entrepreneurship topics affecting women, Zimbabwe and the region at large was co-hosted by the Atlantic Business Council’s Freedom and Prosperity Center in partnership with the Advisory Council Member Joanna Sharpe.

Presentations and discussions centered around strengthening women’s economic participation, featuring a capacity-building conference for emerging women business leaders, followed by a policy workshop aimed at identifying trends and proposals to enhance women’s economic freedom and attract foreign direct investment.

The selected entrepreneurs are set to receive mentorship training over the next twelve months in a development which will see  global Advisors  providing insight, advice, and mentorship to help enable the growth of the entrepreneurs’ businesses.

“Eleven emerging entrepreneurs doing business in a variety of industries across Zimbabwe were selected from the more than 100 women attending the conference. Winners included Beatrice Ndemera (laundry services), Thabilise Nyaruwata (Information and communication technology), Francisca Sibanda (organic skincare), Thelma Chimbganda (supply chain and logistics), Unique Zimoto (media production and video game design), Rutendo Muchero (technology training), Primrose Manyonda (travel agency), Florence Kayungwa (menstrual health), Vimbainashe Mahwiridi (Eco-friendly construction), Yvonne Chiwara (real estate), and Vimbai Dzingarai (handmade products),” the Atlantic Council said in a statement.

 The Global Advisors offering one-on-one mentorship include Sheffy Kolade (Nigeria and United States; sustainable handmade products), Taylor French Lutz (United States; manufacturing), Sasha Suresh (India and United States; cosmetics and wellness), Rutendo Magorimbo (Zimbabwe; life insurance.

 Vicky Kuperman (Russia and United States; media), Danai Nhando (Zimbabwe and South Africa; law and social impact), Marsha Parcou (Seychelles; wellness and tourism), Afua Osei (United States; business development and media), Sherree Shereni (Zimbabwe; business development), Glory Edozein (Nigeria; real estate and marketing), and Kaylin Marcotte (United States; toys and educational products).

The mentorship program is being run under the  Women for Prosperity project of the Atlantic Council’s Freedom and Prosperity Center, which is dedicated to empowering women entrepreneurs and driving meaningful policy changes with lasting impact.

The initiative connects industry leaders with emerging women entrepreneurs and brings together government officials, civil society organizations, and private sector leaders to discuss data-driven policy proposals and solutions, informed by insights from the Freedom and Prosperity Indexes.
