42 000 Apostolic sect members back Mnangagwa’s term limit extension

A total 42 000 Apostolic sect members turned up for a march to back President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s term limit extension to 2030.
The relationship between some Apostolic sects leaders and the ruling ZANU-PF party in Zimbabwe is mutually beneficial, with the party providing political support and resources, while the church leadership often endorses the ruling party to its members.
ZANU-PF leaders visit churches, donate goods, and promote their political agenda, and in return, church elders encourage their congregations to vote for the status quo.
The event held Sunday is in line with the Masowe4ED – an outfit of Apostolic church members who support Mnangagwa’s administration.
It was organized by Zanu-PF Harare Province chairperson ,Godwills Masimirembwa who called on church leaders to drum up support towards the 2030 agenda.
“We stand firmly committed to resolution 1 as a guiding pillar for our collective progress. It is vital that faith leaders set aside doctrinal differences and unite in purpose. Only through such unity can we achieve the national economic transformation that Zimbabwe urgently needs,” he said.
Masowe4ED staged the marc with another Zanu PF affiliates under NAMFED, staged a march in Glen Norah in support of Mnangagwa and Vision 2030.
NAMFED chief convener and Zanu PF turns to pulpit in fresh ED2030 push Masowe4ED senior adviser Obey Mapuranga said the turnout “far exceeded expectations”.
“We had anticipated a turn out of about 20 000, but the 42 000 who came was a remarkable surprise. This overwhelming presence is a clear showcase of patriotism and unity among our people,” he said.
Masowe4ED chairperson On-well Vengesa said the group would intensify participation in government programmes.
He said all congregants must be card carrying members of the Zanu-PF party outfit.
