US think tank, Atlantic Council has partnered Mrs Joanna Sharpe to host a high level Women Business Conference scheduled to take place in Harare this week.
In an update, the think tank expressed gratitude over the partnership which will go a long way to tackle pertinent issues affecting women in the world of business.
The two days event will feature emerging women business leaders and a policy workshop on boosting women’s economic participation and foreign direct investment.
“The Atlantic Council is excited to announce the launch of the Freedom and Prosperity Center’s Women for Prosperity project. In partnership with Advisory Council Member Joanna Sharpe, the Center will host a two days event from October 9 to 10 in Harare, Zimbabwe, featuring a capacity-building conference for emerging women business leaders, followed by a policy workshop aimed at identifying trends and proposals to enhance women’s economic participation and attract foreign direct investment,” the council said.
The event coincides with the release of the Center’s report, How Zimbabwe Can Achieve Its Vision of Prosperity, which examines Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030 Agenda—an ambitious plan to transform the nation into an uppermiddle-income country by 2030.
The report underscores the importance of both economic growth and social progress, advocating for a comprehensive development strategy.
It argues that by fostering an environment that attracts foreign investments and supports entrepreneurship, Zimbabwe can build a solid foundation for lasting prosperity.
Notable speakers include H.E. Mthuli Ncube, Minister of Finance of Zimbabwe; Ken Sharpe, CEO of WestProp Holdings; Irene Mukarakate, Chairwoman of the Women Alliance of Business Associations in Zimbabwe; Jobst Von Kirchmann, Ambassador of the European Union to Zimbabwe; and radio and television host Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa.
Women for Prosperity, a project of the Atlantic Council’s Freedom and Prosperity Center, is dedicated to empowering women entrepreneurs and driving meaningful policy changes with lasting impact.
The initiative connects industry leaders with emerging women entrepreneurs and brings together government officials, civil society organizations, and private sector leaders to discuss data-driven policy proposals and solutions, informed by insights from the Freedom and Prosperity Indexes.
“Zimbabwe stands at a pivotal crossroads, with Vision 2030 serving as both a roadmap and a call to action.” said Joseph Lemoine, Senior Director of Freedom and Prosperity Center. “Achieving upper-middle-income status is not just an aspirational goal—it is a necessity in today’s increasingly competitive global landscape.”
