Mnangagwa says investments flowing into Zim despite sanctions

PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa says despite the existence of sanctions, investments continue to flow in Zimbabwe amid calls for interested parties from the Western World to take advantage of the vast opportunities in the country.

The Southern Africa has it on record that its economy has been reeling under economic Western imposed sanctions for over two decades now thereby limiting economic growth.

But Western nations have dismissed the claims arguing that travel bans targeted on errant organisations and individuals who violate human rights have nothing to do with the economy.

But addressing thousands of party supporters in the Mashonaland East Province of Mtawatawa over the weekend, Mnangagwa confirmed the negative impact of sanctions but said regardless, investments continue to flow into the economy.

“Yes we have sanctions imposed on our country by some Western countries but we are saying to those who want to come in and work with us, they are welcome.

“We have so much investment coming into Zimbabwe in spite of sanctions. In fact for the last three years, Zimbabwe has been growing economically ahead of every SADC country,” he said.

He underscored that Zanu-pf is a people’s party, which represents the needs of the people backed by the solid history of bringing about freedom in Zimbabwe.

“We have a history of bringing about freedom and democracy to our people. No political party in this country can claim this distinct position. Zanu-pf’s trademark is winning..We will continue to win,” he said.

Mnangagwa said all the country’s 35 000 villages will undergo transformation through establishment of village horticulture gardens highlighting that the land reform is irreversible.

“When we attained independence in 1980 we were told at Lancaster House that for 10 years we would not take our land except on the principle of willing buyer, willing seller. We observed that constitutional provision.

“When that time lapsed, the former President, the late Cde Mugabe, said you are now the Minister of Justice, make a law that will enable us to take back our land,” he said.

He applauded the Svosve people for not waiting for the completion of any legality by proceeding to take over the land in their area hastily.
